What happened after last year's survey?
This is the third year that VU University Amsterdam has participated in the National Student Survey. University faculties and departments use the survey results to make plans for improvement. Last year's results led to a number of activities, including:

  • improving the provision of information: a one-stop Student Portal will be launched in March 2011 that will include Blackboard announcements, your VU e-mail, information about courses, schedules and self-service modules for registering for courses, exams and more.
  • more options in our degree programmes: new minors and a free-choice component that will be introduced in 2012-2013 at the latest.
  • enhanced mentoring, tutoring and counselling services.
  • enhanced career guidance and better preparation for professional practice: using alumni and lecturers from the field and opening up opportunities for internships.

What is the National Student Survey?
The National Student Survey is a nationwide survey in which tens of thousands of students give their opinion about their degree programmes, vocational colleges or universities. The results are published on www.studiekeuze123.nl and used by Elsevier and the Keuzegids Guide to Higher Education, among other organizations.
