An interactive videogame which teaches
how even a Pokémon can get a job
In the pokareer game there are multiple scenarios possible. After Chris catches Cas, the player has two choices:
Depending on this choice, the player can play a battle (for a job), or he/she can play a training program to higher the skills of the pokemon. Eventually, after the training session, the pokemon will play a battle to obtain a job.
Once in the ‘battle for a job’ the player has to win the fight against the company. A couple of strategic choices during the fight will or will not ensure the win. If the player wins the battle: Cas has his first job, if the player loses: Cas needs to go back to the training program.
Once the player ensured a job for Cas, the game will skip a few years. After Cas has worked for a couple of years, he has to choose between 2 possible scenarios:
If the player chooses the first option: the game is over! If he chooses the second option, the player is set to another choice:
After this difficult choice, the player directly (or with a training in between) ends in the battle for a job, which returns to the same situation as before. This loop can repeat itself, until the player chooses that Cas has found his dream job!
This is the bodywork of the interactive game. From start to end, the whole story and interactive choices are presented in a well-ordered schedule.
We are Cas Hortensius and Christiaan Beels. Both first year's IMM students and come from the region surrounding Haarlem. We learned to think during this project and had good fun doing that.
