talk show tell print

01 . TD Evans

Good & orignal approach, enough research and work. No final, pity. I can.t grade.

02 -- Ceren G. Majoor

PRO: You have a personal style. You.re consequent in your visual approach, which gives your work a certain strength. You made enough work & participated in class. Final project is interesting on the visual level. I.m very happy you showed a video to explain the game. Efficient.
CONS & Advice: Sometimes you could be a bit more daring, trying to set aside the .cute. pixel that resides in yourself. Adaptability can be worked out (I think about the CT logo that didn.t really match the CT idea). In storyboard, some POV (point of view) shots from the cat could have improved it.

03 -- Jurgen Buisman

PROS: Good visuals skills, interesting conceptual approach. Very interesting Photo assignment, at the visual level (less on the content). Enough work is done, as well as research. The final assgnment is also pretty well grounded and well thought.
CONS & Advice: Your final presentation could have been more visual. Even if the idea is good, you need to show it more visually, with clear images and strong statements. You have the skills, so you can do it.

04 -- Steven Gerritsen

PROS: some work is done. Interesting final game. Original approach and statement. You also have a clear way of presenting orally. That.s good & important.
CONS & Advice: Your portfolio is not the most appealing visually. Make an effort about your online presentation. I also miss some explanation/conceptual background info. Pity the game was not fully functional (but ok, that.s secondary). Dare sometimes a bit more to mix things (as example, the mix of newspapers with calendar is to me quite more interesting than the succession of them in the main work.)

05 -- Mike Hergaarden

PROS: Enough work. Some humor in the approach. Clean CTSG logo, working. Good collage, well mixed and composed. (pity the atomic shape is not soooo recognizable). Final assignment shows some improvements in the visual of the game site.
CONS & Advice: Dare a bit more to create some personal/original visuals. Although I like the photo assgnmt idea, I regret that all the cat is seeing is pretty predictable. Online presentation could be a bit less .clean./standard. Don.t be afraid to try out, to get a bit more experimental. It.s still time for mistakes and risks. (it.s in fact always.)

06 -- Devina Cicilson

PROS: Good portfolio online. Original and nicely designed. Good and enough work. You have a certain style and are consequent with it. A lot of work for the final assignmt, using Blender and finally present a movie to show the work is great.
CONS & Advice: Your oral presentation was very much like a report. Try to be more direct and show what has been achieved with visual elements/tolls more than explaining it. The storyboard is using pretty boring photo. Here too, try to focus on the visuals, more than on the structure.

07 -- Edwin Schootmeijer

PROS: Interesting and original approach in assignments. I like the result of your photo work and what you tried to achieve there. Good visually designed online portfolio. Good presentation skills verbally. Final project is also well constructed.
CONS & Advice: I missed some visuals in your last presentation. Content is important but when it.s about showing, images are queens. Maybe the cat can stay on your screensaver and leave the portfolio.? ;-)

08 -- Sander Hopman

PROS: Photo assgntmt has an interesting approach. Final work concept is also well thought.
CONS & Advice: I miss a bit of involvment (in work and in class too). It.s a pity the final project didn.t come out really, and especially more visually, even if not fully ready. Your collage is too literal, It lacks composition and interaction. Try to find a bit more clearly what you like, what can becaome a sort of style for your work.

09 -- Gerwin Overeem

PROS: Good visual skills, interesting work and approach of the assgnmts. Final project is a very interesting idea. Well designed online portfolio.
CONS & Advice: Go a bit more wild in your style. Maybe experimenting with new tools (animation, video, lighting). Try to think deeper into the visual way of working (learn about camera angles, point of view, lighting, framing.) It can only enhance your already good visual approach.

10 -- Laurien Overakker

PROS: Enough work and research. Full housestyle as final project that is nicely completed. You have commitment and improved your visual skills within the course. Clear online portfolio.
CONS & Advice: You might have to leave a bit your .favorite. things behind and try yourself with new subject and ideas. Dare to go a bit deeper in visual research and don.t be afraid to make mistakes. Your schoolish style could become a bit more mature. But go on, you can achieve something nice.

11 -- Guillaume Kloof

PROS: Interesting final project. Good try with logo.
CONS & Advice: The final assignment is a bit complexe in fact. Could have focused more on the visual aspect, even of the interface itself. Your style is to my eyes a bit end of 90.s. It would gain from a more contemporary touch, which would also make it more personal. NB: personal doens;t mean sticking to your personal .favorites.. On the contrary I.d say. Leave them behind and go out towards the unknown. (ex. Collage where you in fact only gather images of what you like).

12 -- Leonidas Diamantis

PROS: A lot of work. Good research and result for the final project. Good visual skills and aptitude. Your style is pretty onsequent and up to date. Online portfolio also shows some thoughts about design. Nice collage, well composed and built.
CONS & Advice: The animation of the interface in your online portfolio is after the 2nd time seen, pretty time consuming and repetitive (to my eyes). Final video (although good in general) could have show a bit more variety on the shots and more daring about the angle, framing. Anyway, i think you found your way/style and it.s fine. Go on but try yourself with concept you don.t necessarily like nor fancy, it can bring you new ideas.

13 -- Nikolaos Poulios

PROS: very good visual skills. All assignments show some work and good involvement from your part. You have done a lot and developed a clear style along the course. Collage is also well built. CTSG logo is strong too. Very good stop animation in final project (that my very favorite part). Good and original online portfolio.
CONS & Advice: Not so many cons. Pity you couldn.t present your work on the last day. The CG animation (or 2nd life or .) is for me much less powerful than the stop animation. I regret there.s no more of the latter one. The speech issue is acceptable for me, but who knows, maybe no talk could have worked too. Especially if you set that as a kind of .obstructions. and had then to find some solutions to the problem. That might have brought you to more feeling based content than narrative. But well, I.m very pleased with the whole thing, so go on!

14 -- Martina Hoever

PROS: You have some originality in the approach of the assignmts. You keep things simple, which is the most often a good thing. You did a complete house-style for the final project, which is showing some involvement and application. You also participated enough in class. Your online portfolio shows some design skills too.
CONS & Advice: Don\t be too shy. Your visuals might gain from a bit more statement. A example, the logo, that for such a subject, definitely needs a bit more stability and strength. In your final project, I also see a bit too much schoolish style. Your collage is ok as simple as it is, but could have had a little twist somewhere (ie cut out the stand of the sign.?). All those little things can add a bit more mystery or tension, and that.s important.

15 -- Thomas Hage

PROS: Your visuals have some grounded base, which is important. You take the time to reflect before making. A nice collage, well composed and I personally like the fact they come in a series of 3. Good final project in terms of work and involvement.
CONS & Advice: Your visual skills would gain from thinking more about harmony, color scheme (I mean especially related to the game; I miss there some unity in the interface). Pity as well that it.s not really functioning. Try sometimes to get a bit wilder in the graphics, at least to experiment, to se what it can bring to your visual approach.

16 -- Steven Beaujon

PROS: Good reflection before designing, it.s good!. I like the collage approach and daring to go for a 3d one. The logoshow some research and work. Photo assignmt is simple but works too. Good final project in terms of work and involvement.
CONS & Advice: You might try to go for less sometimes. About the logo for instance, I think the idea of floating letters is enough to symbolize the superpower issue. No need for the little figure with the cape, which is sooo cliché! Dare in that sense a bit more risky stuff. Same for the sign, focus on the most important, which will prevent evtual misleading (does the sign say: .Don.t take it off. or .Don.t put in on.?). Your visual skills are ok, but can surely be improved in terms of composition, color harmony (in the iPhone game for instance).

17 -- Georgios Papadopoulos

PROS: You did enough work and finished your final project with a working game. Good point. You have a story behind each work, which is often good too.
CONS & Advice: I think you could try to be a bit less obvious in your visuals: less explanative, to let the viewer wonder a bit more. Try to touch us more than telling us. The text in your photo assgnmt is for example not needed in my opinion. A variation of the size of the pictures could also be used to show the various importance you give to each steps. Visuals need to be strong, or at least, effective (although in whatever sense or direction, you choose). The harmony within the graphics can also be improved.

18 -- Gintautas Pusinskas

PROS: Good approach and original results. I.m glad about the final assignment. It also shows some work and experimenting. The photo work is interesting (but, see after). Good collage , showing compositional skills. Your visual skills are good in general. Good oral presentation.
CONS & Advice: The photo assignment could be a bit clearer, or at least focusing on one more aspect. That is valid in general (your logo could also be much simpler and then stronger.) An interactive working application of your final project would have been great! Forget powerpoint to present things. Show it more visually. Buy a magic arm (from Manfrotto, great tool for interesting camera angles, impossible with tripods).

19 -- Matthijs Willems

PROS: Nice collage idea. Good presentation online. Interesting final project idea, working ARG.
CONS & Advice: I miss visuals in your final project. Content is needed and important, but visuals (how you.ll imagine the interface, the characters, the fonts, the important visual elements.) all this should be worked out too. Try to be more focused on the essential. (for instance , your logo could have been the .S. only, with eventually the full name in small under. But the red .S. on yellow is the essential.)

20 -- Jorrit v/d Velde

PROS: Your visual skills are good. You have a good feeling for clarity. I like the sign especially. The collage shows some nice harmony and (basic though) compositional skills. Interesting idea for the final project.
CONS & Advice: Keep it clear and simple how you do now. Try nevertheless to mix things a bit ore efficiently (collage lacks interaction between elements). I regret the final project stayed at a conceptual/idea level. It also lacks a lot of visuals (how you.ll imagine the interface, the characters, the fonts, the important visual elements.). You might find yourself better and more comfortable with assignments than with free work.
