Research interests:

Precision tests of fundamental physics (e.g. QED and nuclear size effects, using atoms like helium, helium+ ions, antihydrogen), testing the stability of fundamental constants (such as alpha using e.g. quasar data), frequency comb lasers, high power (multi-TW) ultrafast lasers and ultrafast phenomena, coherent X-ray generation, laser-produced plasmas, and lensless imaging with light ranging from infrared to soft-X-ray wavelengths.

2014 - now: Group leader (30% fte) at ARCNL of the EUV Generation and Imaging Group (together with Dr. S. Witte).

Personal Grants



In March 2016 I was awarded a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant of 2.5 MEuro to investigate QED and the 'proton size puzzle' by precision spectroscopy on the 1S-2S transition in trapped helium+ ions. More details will follow later, but you can find a short description at the news section of the department website, and at the section about open PhD and Postdoc positions.
