News about the ubisec project
14 Feb, 2004 - Melanie Rieback will be giving a presentation titled 'Security Challenges in Ubiquitous Computing' at the ASCI GNARP Workshop, on 5 March, 2004.

Project Description:

Technological development is finally making ubiquitous computing possible. A paradigm shift is underway where each user will use hundreds or even thousands of computers, embedded into a wide range of devices and into his environment. These computers will be interconnected with each other and with networks in order to offer new applications and services. This scenario will raise a range of security issues: from privacy of the information collected by such devices, to authentication of legitimate users, to authorization of some actions and denial of others, to tolerance to malicious attacks. All of these issues need to be addressed in the context of restrictive and very challenging constraints, as posed by the new environments envisaged by ubiquitous computing.

This project aims to address the security issues of ubiquitous computing and to propose new solutions that will meet these requirements. This is also one of the first projects that aims at providing a comprehensive and coherent approach to all the different security issues in ubiquitous computing.
