Research Alignment of patient record with clinical research data using medical ontologies and semantic reasoning. I am a Phd student under supervision of Annette ten Teije, Frank van Harmelen and Anca Bucur from Philips Research. My research is focused on development and evaluation of clinical decision support system. The goal is to bridge patient care and research data to enable reasoning for two main applications i.e. finding relevant clinical trials for a patient, supporting design of new clinical trials. Proper application of ontologies, semantic reasoning and relevant healthcare standards are expected to yield results, directly applicable in clinical practice. The research is carried out in close co-operation with the Philips Research and a clinical partner which will provide both patient data and the necessary feedback on relevance, accuracy, and deployability of the proposed solutions.
