De Bijenkorf, with branches in 13 major cities, is the Netherlands' most exclusive department store. It is famous because it is trend-setting and inspirational. Customers will find a wide range of products, innovative themes and a premium experience. The top international brands, together with its own exclusive brands, make Bijenkorf a market leader in fashion. To provide this excellent service to its customers, Bijenkorf needs to have an efficient inventory management. The goal is to have a high product availability against low holding costs. This requires a thorough assortment analysis to identify the slow and fast movers. Based upon this analysis one can build models to devise efficient inventory policies. In this project we studied and improved the methodology used at Bijenkorf to carry out the assortment analysis and checked the assumptions of their inventory models. More information |
