About me

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Web & Media group at the VU University Amsterdam (VU). In my research I combine Semantic Technologies, MultiMedia, Human-Computer Interaction and Automatic Information Extraction. Using this I hope to do my part in realizing the Web of (Semantic) Data. I am interested in exploring the use of Semantic Technologies in real-world domains. An example of such an application domain is Cultural Heritage which provided the context of my PhD thesis, two past projects and two current projects: Plaatsen van Betekenis and Verrijkt Koninkrijk.
Within the Voices project I am currently researching possibilities of bringing the Web of Data to local farmers in developing countries, combining Linked Data and voice technologies.
A chronological list of my publications can be found on the publications page.
