About me

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Web & Media group which is part of the Network Institute of the VU University Amsterdam (VU). In my research I combine Semantic Technologies, MultiMedia, Human-Computer Interaction and Automatic Information Extraction. Using this I hope to do my part in realizing the Web of (Semantic) Data. I am interested in exploring the use of Semantic Technologies in real-world domains. An example of such an application domain is Cultural Heritage and Digital Humanities which provided the context of my PhD thesis, a number of past projects and the current "Dutch Ships and Sailors" project.
Within the Voices and IPI-Furoba Blon projects I am currently researching possibilities of bringing the Web of Data to local farmers in developing countries, combining Linked Data and voice technologies.
You can find a more elaborate curriculum vitae here [PDF]. A chronological list of my publications can be found on the publications page.
