Wild Tangent is very appropriate for developing games. It provides conveniece layer around DirectX 7, and enables applications to be run via a Web browser, by deploying the COM interfaces for DirectX. It allows for authoring content and dynamics in Javascript and Java. However, also the original X meshes, the file format for DirectX, can be used.
