SITE INDEX Enter here

The International Network for the Conservation of Contemporary Art (INCCA) is an initiative of
11 international museums of modern and contemporary art, universities and research institutions. The network has the objective to maximise the exchange of information on the preservation of modern and contemporary art and to support international and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The constitution of the International Network for the Conservation of Contemporary Art is planned for the years 1999-2001. The project started in October 1999 and is supported by the European Commission,
Raphael Programme 1999.

The INCCA web site is an interactive tool for professionals working in the field of modern and contemporary art preservation and conservation. Visitors have access to most parts of the web site. Subscription is requested for participation in the knowledge bank of modern and contemporary art conservators, restorers and curators.

The web site contains a wide variety of information topics, like news, conservation projects, publications and training. A literature data bank offers the visitor access to about 2500 book titles on the preservation of modern and contemporary art.

During the period 1999-2001 the INCCA web site will also be a virtual working space, receptive to new ideas and developments in the field of modern and contemporary art conservation. This may result in adjustments in the general structure or different parts of the web site on a regular basis.
The partners of the INCCA project will develop new methods and establish criteria in the making accessible of information already present in archives of modern art museums and research institutions.
Furthermore, the partners of the INCCA project will develop a joint and interdisciplinary method to conduct artists' interviews, in order to collect information on the artist's use of materials and techniques, their meaning to the art work and the artist's view on deterioration.
The web site informs the visitor about the progress of these INCCA-projects step by step.

During the set-up phase of INCCA the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage will host the web site.
