My PhD research takes place within the context of the interdisciplinary research project Active2Gether. It is a combined effort of the Behavioural Informatics group at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and the EMGO+ Institute for Health and Care Research at the VU Medical Centre in Amsterdam. The main objective of the Active2Gether project is to develop an effective and practical solution to the physical inactivity of young adults: a smartphone application that facilitates behavior change through unobtrusive monitoring, awareness of the physical and social context, and tailored coaching strategies.
During my Master's studies, I worked as a research assistant in a interdisciplinary research programme called "Academy Assistants", which is funded by the KNAW (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences). In this project, Master's students and supervisors from Computer Sciences and the Social Sciences collaborated on various societal relevant issues. My team, consisting of 2 to 3 students and supervisors from both scholarly disciplines, investigated network structures in crisis situations. This work led to three scientific publications: two conference publications, that I both (co-)presented, and one journal publication.
